Telar XP
Product Overview
Telar® XP is a broad-spectrum tank-mix herbicide that provides contact and residual control in pastures where farmers and ranchers want to keep their bahiagrass. Telar helps to control invasive weeds in western rangelands. It is selective, delivering strong foliar activity and long-lasting residual control without harming desirable grass species. Field studies have demonstrated that a single fall application of Telar XP can help reduce weed populations by up to more than 90% the following spring.

FAQ
What is Telar XP?
Telar® XP is a selective broad-spectrum herbicide for the control of many invasive and noxious broadleaf weeds in pasture, range, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) lands and non-crop industrial sites, including grazed areas on these sites.
What is the active ingredient in Telar XP herbicide?
The active ingredient in Telar XP is chlorsulfuron (Group 2 herbicide).
Where can Telar XP be applied?
Telar XP herbicide is registered for use on rangeland, pastures, grass hay fields and grasses in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). It may also be applied to non-crop industrial sites, including industrial sites, banks of dry drainage ditches, airports, military installations, fence rows, roadsides and associated rights-of-way, lumberyards, petroleum tank farms, pipeline and utility rights-of-way, pumping installations, railroads, storage areas, and plant sites.
How is Telar XP applied?
Telar XP herbicide is a dry flowable that is mixed in water and applied as a spray.
How does Telar XP work?
Telar XP herbicide is absorbed by both the roots and foliage of plants, rapidly inhibiting the growth of susceptible weeds. Two to 3 weeks after application to weeds, leaf growth slows, and the growing points turn reddish-purple. Within 4 to 6 weeks of application, leaf veins and leaves become discolored, and the growing points subsequently die.
What species of weeds does Telar XP control?
Telar XP herbicide controls a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds, including bedstraw, buttercup, Canada thistle, pigweed, puncturevine, Russian knapweed, thistle complex (bull, musk and Scotch), clover (white and red), whitetop and more. See the product label for a complete list.
Will Telar XP cause damage to Bahiagrass or other desirable grasses?
Telar XP is a selective herbicide, delivering strong foliar activity and long-lasting residual control without harming most desirable grass species, including Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, bentgrass, bluestems, fescue and more. Please see the product label for a full list of grasses and application rates.
When is the best time to apply Telar XP herbicide?
Best results are obtained when perennial weeds are treated in the bud to bloom stage or in the fall rosette. Annual weeds are controlled best when treated early in their growth cycles. Warm, moist conditions following treatment enhance the effectiveness of Telar XP, because moisture carries it into weed roots, preventing roots from developing. Cold, dry conditions delay its activity and effectiveness.
Can livestock graze in areas where Telar XP has been used?
There are no grazing or hay harvest restrictions for any livestock, including lactating animals, when Telar XP herbicide is applied at rates up to 1 1/3 fl. oz. per acre. No exclosure is required for any animals. Do not apply more than 1 1/3 fl. oz. per acre of Telar XP per year.
Can Telar XP be used near bodies of water?
Do not apply Telar XP herbicide to natural or man-made bodies of water such as lakes, reservoirs, ponds, streams and canals. It may be applied on pasture, range, CRP and non-crop sites that contain areas of temporary surface water caused by the collection of water between planting beds, in equipment ruts, or in other depressions created by management activities. It is also permissible to treat intermittent drainage, intermittently flooded low lying sites, seasonably dry flood plains and transitional areas between upland and lowland sites when no water is present. It can also be used to treat marshes, swamps and bogs after water has receded, as well as in seasonally dry flood deltas.
